What is a brand name collision?
A brand name collision happens when a name is a common word or other services use the same name, and search engines and AI cannot tell your brand from another.
How it appears
Searching the name alone shows hotels, other companies, or other services first, or an AI describes another object and says it does not know you. It is worse when a same-name service exists in the same field.
What to check first
Search the name alone, name plus field, name plus domain, the native-script spelling, and the English spelling, and record the top results. A brand pushed down by name alone often appears well once a field or domain is added.
How to respond
1) Use an expression that attaches the field to the name consistently on the first screen, in the introduction, and in profiles. 2) Show both spellings in one sentence. 3) Put name, main domain, and official profiles in Organization structured data. 4) Do this cleanup before considering a rename.
A caution
Do not disparage other services or imitate their names. The goal is to state clearly and truthfully who you are.
Frequently asked questions
Should I rename the brand?
Usually not. Attaching field, domain, and operator consistently costs far less. A rename is the last resort.
